About Front Porch Studio
I paint watercolors and design my patterns for home goods on Nantucket Island and beyond...on planes & trains...anywhere I can access a thimble of water. I am inspired everyday on Nantucket. My folks were married on the banks of Miacomet Pond and had a house in ‘Sconset for 47 years. Our daughters were born here, and I was part of the Ships Inn for 27 years. I love this island and the people on it. I’ve been selling art since 2009, when I began making little sailboat watercolors that I painted on my front porch (hence the Studio name) for the Farmers and Artisans Market here. That grew into a tiny shop and then a bigger shop (which was still tiny) until this year...now my shop comes to you online. All my work is still done with a Micron 005 pen and my Kuretake paints (kinda fancy) or with a basic Cornell watercolor set
(affordable and easy to find).
Sign up for my “Friend of the Studio” if you are interested in watercolor lessons - complete with art sets for you. It’s crazy fun and you don’t have to go to art school to find your bliss. Write, paint, dance, garden, yoga - whatever it is that feeds your soul. You’ll know when you’ve found it because it feels like sunshine on the inside.
